MEDALLOY Welcomes Its First Doctoral Candidate: Simon McHugh Begins at POLIMI
1 September 2026: MEDALLOY is delighted to mark a major milestone for the project: our first Doctoral Candidate, Simon McHugh, has officially begun his research at the Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI).
Simon, who is Irish and completed his MSc in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Galway, joins as DC9 on the project. His research will focus on validating an in silico pipeline for modelling the deployment of a novel tricuspid device, work that will see him seconded to CroíValve in Dublin as part of his doctoral training.
His arrival marks the moment MEDALLOY moves from recruitment into active research, and we’re excited to follow his progress as the project’s first cohort takes shape.
Welcome to the team, Simon!
