MEDALLOY Consortium Advances Materials Strategy and Training Plans
The MEDALLOY project consortium met online yesterday, July 15, 2026, to align on project management, training, and materials research strategy for the coming year. Fifteen consortium members attended: Will Ronan (UoG), Alberto Coda (BAM), Brian Berg (BSC), Petr Sittner (FZU), Reduan Asbai Ghoudan (CroíValve), Ali Reza Abae (CroíValve), Henry Bosch (ADM), Kevin Koschella (ADM), Lorenza Petrini (POLIMI), Danielle Nicholson (UoG), Burkhard Maass (ING), Christoph Degel (ADM), Francesca Berti (POL), Jannis Lemke (BAM), and Luca Patriarca (POL).
A busy training calendar is taking shape: an online induction for all Doctoral Candidates is planned for 23 September 2026, followed by an Ingpuls-hosted Training School in November. Further events are in the pipeline, including a proposed MEDALLOY Poster Session at BoKoMaT in February 2027, a training session in March 2027 at the FZU – Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and an in-person Progress Meeting with the Project Officer planned for June 2027.
The heart of the meeting was a detailed technical discussion on materials strategy. Partners, including ADMEDES, BioActive Metals, CroíValve, and POLIMI, worked through specifications for shared tube and wire materials to be used across multiple Doctoral Candidate projects, with the goal of ensuring consistency and comparability of results throughout the four-year project. The group discussed sourcing strategy and agreed on detailed technical parameters to guide procurement.
The consortium also began early planning for upcoming secondments.
