MEDALLOY Is Officially Off the Ground

On 29 January 2026, partners from across Europe came together online for the MEDALLOY kick-off meeting, marking the launch of a new Marie Skłodowska-Curie Industrial Doctoral Network and the beginning of an ambitious four-year programme.

Under the leadership of Coordinator Dr William Ronan of the University of Galway, the consortium aligned on governance structures, mapped out the road ahead, and got underway on all core work areas, from doctoral candidate recruitment and financial reporting to ethics, communications, and training.

The network’s goal is to recruit nine outstanding doctoral candidates and deliver a world-class training programme that advances Nitinol research and medical device innovation.
